Oscars 2016: Best (and worst) Dressed

Ahh, awards season. Nothing better than sitting on the couch in your sweatpants while you stuff your face with wine and popcorn and judge what celebrities are wearing.

Am I right or am I right?

Anyway, while posting as many Leo Oscar memes as possible before they became irrelevant, I channel surfed between Academy Awards red carpet shows to get the inside scoop of all the glitz and Hollywood glamour.

In a sea of dresses and tuxes, I did spot a few looks that I would consider "Best Dressed."

So without further ado, I present: TC&CS's Best Dressed List.

This woman is one of the most stunning women in Hollywood, in my opinion. Priyanka Chopra in Zuhair Murad was a superb choice with a subtle hint of skin while staying on trend in white. (Remember Beyonce's wedding dress at the Grammy's?)

Saoirse Ronan in custom Calvin Klein is unexpected but absolutely gorgeous. The sillouette is perfect for her slender figure as it just floats down her body. The beachy waves added a youthful element while her eyes popped with a smoky makeup look.

As the muse of the Maison, Alicia Vikander wears quite a bit of Louis Vuitton on the red carpet. However, this beautiful yellow color was definitely not predicted. Channeling her inner Belle, Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander showed a playful, feminine side that paid off.

Best Actress winner Brie Larson is a vision in blue on the red carpet. The sapphire color of this Gucci gown is perfect for standing out while doing so elegantly. One of my favorite parts of this dress is the subtle tulle detail on the neckline. It's a simple touch that adds a delicate element to the look.

Chrissy Teigen is my favorite person to follow on Twitter. She is absolutely hilarious while being stunningly gorgeous and basically reads our minds whenever she talks about food. Here, she is glowing in Marchesa. The low-neck and hip-hugging silhouette keeps this maternity look very sexy.

It was a tragic moment when we missed J-Law on the red carpet and I had to find a photo of her after Chris Rock was already halfway done with this monologue. It is no surprise that Jennifer Lawrence is stunning in Dior. Love the nude, love the lace, love the fringe, love her.

Have to have some guys on this list! Now I may be biased because it is my favorite color, but I thought Michael Strahan in this blue tux was a great look. While I love seeing men wear the classic black and white, it's refreshing to see some color on the red carpet from men.

This dapper young man stole the show with his adorable charm. Plus, he was so talented in Room. This boy has a bright future ahead of him for sure. Jacob Tremblay, remember that name.

And worst dressed goes to...

Heidi, I love you, but you look like an Easter bonnet. Take away the sleeve and flowers, and you'd have a beautiful tulle gown but all together it is way too much. I will not be surprised if I see this Marchesa gown on the worst dressed lists.

Who was your best and worst dressed?
How do you feel about the end of the Leonardo DiCaprio Oscar memes?

WWBWD.

For all of life's problems, a girl must ask herself one important question.

Because Blair Waldorf has all of the answers, and can do it in Manolos.

I kept this look pretty simple by pairing the boat-neck tee with a black cardigan, black leggings with a leather/suede panel on the side (very slimming), and black booties. To add a little color, I wore my rose-colored Michael Kors crossbody.

Also, on the day of this shoot, I discovered curling your hair with a flat iron, and let me tell you, it is LIFE CHANGING. If you guys want a tutorial on how I did my hair here, let me know in the comments below!

I think basic tees are essential to any wardrobe. You can easily dress it down with some ripped boyfriend jeans or add a bit of girly flair with a blazer. They're also perfect for layering during the cold winter months. Either way, they are more versatile than you think so investing in a few good t-shirts is definitely worth it.

Especially t-shirts that include references to ultimate-television-gold.

Valentine.

Happy Valentine's Day, darlings!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day full of love.

I love using this holiday to express my love for friends and family, as usually best friends are wayyy better valentines. (Am I right, ladies?)

Here I combined three of my favorite things: valentine's, cheese, and puns.

For this year's Valentine's, I went for a more blush and neutral palette. I knew I wanted to wear my blush pink Philosophy jacket and went from there. Since I wanted that to pop, I stuck with white and nude pieces; including my favorite favorite heels from Sole Society.

I kept my accessories simple with a couple of rings and some statement stud earrings and went for the Naked 3 Palette on my eyes. Because what better day to wear the Naked 3 than on Valentine's Day?!

That's all for now! Check back next Monday for another post!

OMAHA

Today's blog post is rightfully dedicated to
THE SUPER BOWL 50 CHAMPIONS THE DENVER BRONCOS!

So, obviously I'm a bit excited.

It's been quite the interesting season. Between figuring out Gary Kubiak's offense, and, oh you know, just LOSING OUR QUARTERBACK FOR SIX GAMES, this season has been proof that not just one player stands alone; the Denver Broncos are an example of a true team.

I could not be more proud of them and their resilience.

However, most of all, as I'm sure you have heard by now, this championship may have been Peyton Manning's final career game. I have been a fan of his for many years; I even followed him from the Colts to the Broncos. (Call me a band-wagoner or whatever, I don't care.) Despite his legendary career, prior to Sunday, he only had one Super Bowl ring as a Colt. It was incredibly important to me that he continue his legacy and receive another ring as a Denver Bronco, as this would most likely be the final team he plays for, and the team I will root for long after he retires. It brought tears to my eyes as I watched him hold up the Lombardi trophy with an irreplaceable, genuine smile on his face.

I could not be more proud to be a part of Broncos Country. And I know the Broncos did it for The Sheriff.

Love you, Peyton.

And GO BRONCOS!

Nat

January Favorites.

Hello, lovelies! I'm back to share my monthly favorites with you all!
I'm sure you'll recognize these from my Insta (@natashakirkland).
These are the things I kept reaching for in the month of January...

Fashion Favorites

Peyton Manning Jersey
Y'all know I'm a huge Denver Broncos and an even bigger Peyton Manning fan. I've been wearing his jersey on repeat since Week 1 and will be proudly watching Super Bowl 50 in the 18 jersey. #GoBroncos!

Quay Sunnies in On The Prowl
I spotted these sunglasses a while ago but once I saw That's Heart purchase them during Vlogmas, I knew they had to be mine. I'm obsessed with the matte black. They sell out super fast but are actually currently in stock so hurry up and grab them while you still can!

Beauty Favorites

Naked Smoky Palette
First up, I got the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette for Christmas and have been using it non-stop since. I especially love this look created by Melissa Alatorre, (link below) which I attempted to recreate in the selfie below.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip
I've also become newly obsessed with Colourpop Cosmetics Ultra Matte Lips. I currently own Clueless and pictured below is LAX. (Again, from That's Heart suggestions, she's my favorite, okay?)

Roses de Chloé Perfume
I was also on the hunt for a new scent and received Roses de Chloé as a Christmas gift and fell in LOVE. If you want to smell like a beautiful bouquet of roses, then this is the scent for you. I have never received so many compliments on a perfume.

Organizational Favorites

Lilly Pulitzer Agenda & Staedtler Marker Pens
I first tried a Lilly Pulitzer agenda my Junior year of College and fell in love with it. It's so adorable, bright, and fun, that it almost forces you to be organized. I bought a Kate Spade agenda my Senior year but missed the colorful pages so for 2016, I went back to Lilly.

This agenda is the only way I can remember dates, appointments, or anything really. I love to color code everything and obsessed with the Staedtler Marker Pens. THEY DON'T BLEED THROUGH THE PAGE so they're winners in my book. Definitely going to buy the bigger pack next time I'm in Target.

Tech Favorites

Apple iPad Air 2
I have no idea how I survived without an iPad for all of these years. It is perfect for online shopping and games, and gives my iPhone battery a much-needed break. However, my favorite thing about it so far is bringing it to the gym so I can watch Netflix while on the elliptical. I can go longer if I am visually stimulated so I prefer to watch something while doing cardio at the gym.

Music Favorites

TORI F*CKING KELLY
OMFG HOW DID I NEVER HEAR ABOUT TORI KELLY BEFORE?!?!?!!

Seriously though, I became absolutely obsessed with her last month and have not stopped listening to her album. She is a flawless human being and don't even get me STARTED on her HAIR OH MY GOD. She was devastatingly perfect at Global Citizen so when I heard she was going on her Unbreakable Tour, I HAD to snag some tickets. See you in Boston, boo!

It is so refreshing to hear her genuine, pure talent in the age of auto-tune, and listening to her album never fails to put me in a good mood. Her whole album is bomb but if I had to choose a fave, it'd be Nobody Love. Listen to her. Tell your friends. This girl deserves the world. I cannot praise her enough.

That's all for now, beauts. See you next week!
